Our 2023 Sloe Gin is made from berries hand-picked on the banks of the River Alde.
This year there will be a small release of just 300 bottles. We will be sending them out during the week commencing the 11th December, so you will receive them in time for Christmas.
Our Head Distiller Ben is delighted with the way the gin has developed so far and is confident of a great result come December:
“Fishers River Alde Sloe Gin” will have your classic, very bright, red fruit notes from the sloes – think plums and cherries. To accompany, there will be trace of earthiness, spice and frangipani and a distinct almond note on the finish.
Following lots of taste testing, sugar will be added just before bottling to ensure the correct amount is used to achieve the level of sweetness needed to bring the best out of the sloes. Sloes vary from year to year (you could say that Sloes have vintages like wine) so the amount of sugar needs to vary too. The sloes were picked wild and frozen overnight before being steeped in our gin until the last minute before bottling. So there will also be a familiar Fishers gin element there to enjoy as well.
