Announcing our first Explorer Tour of 2025!
We're excited to introduce our collaboration with Suffolk River Trips & Pinney's/Butley Oysterage; bringing you a fantastic opportunity to spend some time on the River Alde.
Join us on Saturday 12th April, leaving from Orford Quay for a 1.5 hour trip exploring the waterways which are so important to us. The excursion will see you circumnavigate Havergate Island; and with insight from our friend & local birdwatcher Brian Small, you'll see a plethora of wildlife who call this beautiful island home.
Whilst supping an ice cold G&T (and hopefully basking in Spring sunshine), you'll also travel up the scenic Butley river to the site of Pinney's smokehouse & oyster beds, returning with Orford Ness in view where the Suffolk River Trips crew will provide an insight into the history of the area.
Once back on dry land, you'll stroll back up from the Quay to Market Hill where you'll be warmly welcomed into Butley Oysterage to enjoy a fish lunch whilst reminiscing on the day's adventures.
NB. Parking will be available at Orford Quay Car Park, please ensure to wear appropriate footwear & clothing.
Itinerary -
11.45am Meet at Orford Quay, welcome & introduction from the Suffolk River Trips crew
12 noon - Board 'Kitty' and depart for your adventure on the Alde
1.30pm - Arrive back at Orford Quay, stroll up Church St. back to Market Hill
2pm - Lunch is booked at the Butley Oysterage
3.30pm - Departure (approx)
The cost of this tour is £95 per person and spaces are extremely limited, only 10 are available so don't delay!
